Men: “Hormone Hell” is NOT Just for Women!

Ramonia Bonham

Can men go through menopause? Absolutely! You might not know it, but estrogen dominance, or andropause, is a major health hazard for men
over 40.

This hormone imbalance occurs when your body builds up too much estrogen and xenoestrogens—which are synthetic forms of the hormone.

You’ve probably never heard of estrogen dominance—and your doctor would probably misdiagnose your symptoms. But this could be the reason you suffer from…

  • Memory loss and “senior moments”
  • Depression and mood swings
  • Sleepless nights
  • Unwanted weight gain—especially belly fat
  • Muscles turning into flab
  • Low sex drive and erectile dysfunction (ED)
  • Enlarged prostate and other prostate problems—and a frequent need to urinate
  • Hair loss
  • Male breasts or “man boobs”

There are three main reasons why these unpleasant symptoms of male menopause may be tormenting you: 1) aging, 2) environmental pollutants and 3) your diet.

As you get older, your body doesn’t make as much testosterone. The remaining testosterone gets weaker and easily converts to estrogen.

Unfortunately, mid-life weight gain increases estrogen production because fat cells contain the aromatase enzyme, which changes testosterone into estrogen.

Another cause for hormone imbalances comes from xenoestrogens—or, toxins that imitate estrogen—which are dumped into the environment by industrial, agricultural and chemical companies. In his health newsletter, Dr. HingHau Tsang said these phony hormones are offshoots of products such as spermacides, detergents, plastics, plastic bottles, pesticides, herbicides, personal care products and lacquers.

Dr. Tsang also said commercially raised beef, chicken and pork, as well as birth control pills and canned foods, contain xenoestrogens. He said massive amounts of hormones are regularly injected in beef and poultry, which can upset your natural estrogen levels.

The late John R. Lee, M.D., an expert in natural progesterone therapy, thought that significant amounts of estrogen are the main cause of prostate enlargement AND prostate cancer!

And estrogen dominance can also lead to erectile dysfunction (ED). According to Nick Delgado, Ph.D., a leading expert on anti-aging, a number of men with ED are “at greater risk for heart attacks, strokes, diabetes or hypertension.”

So whether you call it estrogen dominance, “male menopause” or andropause—estrogen overload is a real health hazard. And as indicated in a report titled “Manopause” by Lisa Marshall, large numbers of baby boomers are being hit with symptoms of male menopause.

Therefore, Dr. John Morley, lead researcher of estrogen dominance in men and head of the geriatrics division at Saint Louis University Medical School, predicts that, “we are going to see an explosion of interest in it.”

Unlock the Natural, Asian Secrets
to Lower Blood Sugar

Peyton Posey

There’s a powerhouse nutrient that’s been proven to help ease symptoms associated with blood sugar imbalances… metabolic syndrome… and even problems with insulin resistance. Unfortunately, there’s a good chance that most of the 73 million folks suffering with these problems have never heard of it!

The extract from banaba leaf—a medicinal herb found in the Phillipines, South Asia and India is a natural and safe way to control your blood sugar, glucose and insulin levels.

This powerful nutrient contains corosolic acid—a substance scientists believe to be a plant-based, insulin-like peptide hormone.

Once these peptides are absorbed, they help your cells absorb glucose, which helps regulate the levels of sugar in the blood. One study tracked patients over a 22-week period taking a placebo and those taking a banaba leaf supplement.

The researchers found that the placebo group did not experience any changes in their blood sugar levels. But the group taking banaba leaf showed a 30 percent drop in their high blood sugar levels. And they also lost an average of 3.2 pounds per month without any significant changes to their diet!

Other studies have proven that banaba leaf can regulate appetite in some people—especially cravings for carbohydrates and sugars!

You can take banaba leaf in the form of a tea, juice or supplement. And you’ll be glad to know there are no reported side effects associated with its use.

So if you’re looking for natural remedies to help control your blood sugar—banaba leaf could be a godsend for your health!

Health E-Hints

Do You Know the Shelf Life for Products
in Your Medicine Cabinet?

If you’re thinking that some of your health and beauty aids are starting to look “unhealthy”—here are some tips for deciding how long to keep and use some common products:

  • Toss your contact lens solution after three months. After you open the seal, germs can easily contaminate the solution.
  • Replace your toothbrush every three to four months. According to the American Dental Association, brushes become worn and much less effective after about three months. And you should always replace your brush following an infection.
  • Keep your dandruff shampoo for up to three years. As long as your brand does not have an expiration date, the medicated shampoo should still be effective.
  • Throw away unused eye makeup after six months. Bacteria can contaminate the products and this could cause eye infections. You can keep foundation for up to two years, and lipsticks and dry products like powder should last for up to three years.
  • Rubbing alcohol can remain stable and useful for several years.
