Are Plant-Based Proteins Better For You Than Animal-Based Proteins?

Making changes to your diet can help you manage your weight, but it’s not always easy to find what works for your body. Cutting carbohydrates can be one way to help you lose weight, and studies show that increasing your protein intake from plant sources instead of animal sources may be beneficial.

Researchers evaluated food surveys for 85,168 women and 44,548 men over the course of several decades. Findings published in the Annals of Internal Medicine showed that those participants who replaced their carbs with protein from animal sources had an increased risk of death from all causes, including heart disease and cancer… and those who replaced their carbs with protein from plant-based foods had a lower risk of heart disease.

Plant-based proteins include nuts, vegetable oils, lentils, black beans, kidney beans, chickpeas and broccoli, just to name a few.
