Chokeberries Could Serve As A Natural Way To Monitor Cholesterol, Inflammation

Lab rats experienced less inflammation with chokeberriesWhile many berries are known for having that offer multiple health benefits, some individuals may not realize the health benefits that are found in chokeberries.

In a new study published in the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology, researchers found that rats that consumed chokeberries were able to regulate weight gain, and keep blood glucose levels and inflammation low.

Scientists believe that this antioxidant finding could provide individuals with a natural way to lower their cholesterol, protecting their heart from potentially life threatening diseases.

The study’s authors noted that the rats that had chokeberries in their diet experienced lower levels of blood glucose and experienced lower rates of chronic inflammation, which they also believe could help lower their risk of cancer.

Although they recognized the need for human test subjects to further prove their findings, the researchers wrote that their preliminary investigation “provides evidence that the chokeberry extract inhibits weight gain in insulin-resistant animals and that it modulates multiple genes associated with adipose tissue growth, blood glucose regulation, and inflammatory pathways.”ADNFCR-1960-ID-19743283-ADNFCR
