How long is too long when it comes to keeping leftovers? Let’s turn to the experts at the American Dietetic Association. For food left in the refrigerator, follow these recommended estimates for about how long they should last:

  • Cooked fresh vegetables: three or four days
  • Cooked pasta: up to five days
  • Cooked rice: up to one week
  • Cooked beef: three or four days
  • Deli meats: about five days
  • Cooked seafood: about two days
  • Soups and stews: three or four days
