For many people, weight loss can be a struggle, especially for individuals who are looking to lose a lot of weight but cannot conform to routines such as an alkaline diet or an exercise regimen.
A new study from the University of Illinois is suggesting that people who are interested in losing weight may want to consider eating soybeans, as they offer a number of and enzymes that could potentially help them slim down.
“We found that soybeans rich in beta-conglycinins limit lipid accumulation in fat cells by inhibiting an enzyme called fatty acid synthase,” said lead researcher, Elvira de Mejia. “Whats more, we have identified the specific peptides (digested proteins) that do this, and we are now beginning to understand the mechanism behind it.”
The researchers were excited by this discovery because they believe it could lead to further studies that could offer natural ways to lose weight as opposed to patients turning to weight-loss drugs, which can sometimes have side-effects that are detrimental to the body.
