Research Finds New Surgery Techniques For Injured Biceps Could Lead To Faster Recovery

Getting the surgery done sooner may improve recoveryIndividuals who suffer from bicep injuries may want to get surgery to correct the problem sooner rather than later as a new study suggests that the earlier the condition is treated, the quicker they experience a recovery.

A study published in the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (JAAOS) reveals that newer surgery techniques are giving hope for rehabilitation of the muscle.

“Newer techniques allow for smaller incisions and often use one incision, instead of two. Moreover, the use of hardware can often return the strength of the tendon to within 90 to 95 percent of its original strength,” said Dr. Karen Sutton.

Researchers found that patients receiving surgical treatment in an early diagnosis had a 30 percent greater improvement in elbow flexion and a 40 percent greater improvement in supination. Another improvement was in upper extremity endurance.

Additionally, individuals who are experiencing muscle pains may consider taking such as vitamin B12 and calcium, as they have been known to alleviate discomfort.ADNFCR-1960-ID-19714205-ADNFCR
