Herbal supplement could improve flagging sexual health

A new herbal supplement may help erectile dysfunctionAn all-natural solution to male sexual difficulties called Plantagrar may be in the offing after trials of the German supplement registered positive results.

According to a report from The Local, men taking the plant-based supplement reported a higher libido to researchers at Berlin’s Charit? Hospital than those in the control group.

The two principal ingredients, goathead and maca, work by increasing testosterone and improving bloodflow.

Although the new treatment minimizes problems, researcher Olaf Schr?der said it isn’t possible to “get rid of them completely.”

A few cases of minor side effects were reported, in the course of the study, including diarrhea.

Further trials are planned to investigate long-term side effects, and the drug is expected to enter the market in early 2010.

Other herbal supplements have been tested for efficacy, including horny goat weed, which researchers found had similar properties to Viagra, but with fewer side effects.

Many men have looked at herbal supplements as an alternative to medications such as Viagra, sold to treat the millions of men in the U.S. alone who suffer from erectile dysfunction.
